A multipole relay has its coil 20 on a core 18 provided with a shading ring 21 and an armature 12 rockable on a L-shaped magnetic yoke 10 on which the core 18 is mounted. The armature 12 is fulcrumed on two aligned edges 16 of leg 14 of the yoke 10 and is biased by two springs 30 extending between lugs 31 on the armature and lugs 29 on a bracket 25 attached to the leg 14. The bracket 25 engages notches (Fig. 6, not shown), in the sides of the armature to prevent lateral movement and end portions 28 prevent removal of the armature. The armature in its attracted position engages only the shaded pole portion of the core 18. An insulating moulding 43 on the armature 12 carries movable change-over contact spring arms 40 in recesses 49. Fixed contacts 36, 37 are supported in apertures in an insulating panel 33 which also carries the coil terminals 38 and terminals 39 which are connected by insulated wires 56 to arm 40. The stranded wire 56 extends through an eyelet 58 (Fig. 7) in the upstanding end of the arm 40, the eyelet being crimped to the wire and soldered to the arm. This prevents solder from flowing along the wire to reduce its flexibility. The cover 63 is secured by an angular leaf spring 64.
