Abstract

998,266. Stranded ropes. A.DIETZ. May 3,1962 [May 5, 1961], No. 17046/62. Heading D1T. A rope is encased in a plastic sheathing 9 such that the plastic material penetrates into the gaps 8 between the outer strands 7, the plastic material penetrating as far as the supporting wires 6 shown disposed between the strands 7. The rope includes a layer of inner strands 3 each of which comprises a core wire 4 surrounded by four flat wires 5. The inner layer of strands 3 are disposed around a rope core 1,2. The wires 6 and strands 7 are laid along a helical path that is in the opposite direction to the helical lay of the strands 1,2,3; and the flat wires 5 serve to enlarge the seating area of the inner strands 3.
