Abstract

997,868. Anti-theft devices. A. W. BURTON. June 16, 1964 [July 18, 1963], No. 28450/63. Heading B7J. A device for preventing operation of the gear lever of a motor vehicle comprises a hardened steel arm 10 formed at one end for pivotal connection to a fixed part of the vehicle and at the other for receiving the lever 21 such that the lever may be locked in the reverse position. The lever 21 may be retained by a separate padlock 23 passed through apertures 18 in the limbs of a fork 16 which embraces the lever, or locking means may be carried by the arm. As shown the arm 10 is pivoted on a bracket 12 secured to the floor of the vehicle in such a position that the arm can lie on the floor beside the driver's seat 19 when not in use.
