Abstract

<PICT:0997734/C3/1> A vulcanization plant for electric cables comprises a tubular enclosure containing steam at a temperature permitting vulcanization, a second tubular enclosure of less length than the first tube containing cooling water, and a cable return pulley rotating inside a fluid-tight annular casing connected with the ends of the two tubes, wherein the two tubes are in different directions. Preferably, the two tubes are mounted in one vertical plane to form a hairpin shape and the water/steam interface is kept at the level of the pulley axis by a system of pumps, pipes and thermocouples. In a modification, the downstream branch may be in two parts, the first horizontal and the second at a slope, with the water/steam interface kept in the sloping portion.
