Apparatus for making transverse lines of perforations in webs of paper or synthetic resin comprising either a pair of coacting rotary blades or one stationary blade with a coating rotary blade with notches 14 in the edge of either one of these blades has one of the blades notched and both arranged in staggered relation in the direction of their cutting edges so that a line of perforations is produced only at the positions at which the cutting edges of the two blades meet. One or both blades 8, 9 are mounted for adjustment in the direction of their cutting edges so that the distance between the ends 12, 13 corresponds with the required length of perforation. More than one rotary blade may be provided to coact with one stationary blade.
