Abstract

995,663. Reservoir for cigarettes, MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd., A. K. McCOMBIE, and F. HEYBOURN. Oct.30, 1963 [Nov. 1, 1962; May 23, 1963], Nos. 41395/62 and 20645/63. Heading B8A. Cigarettes from the catcher bands 1 and 2 of two cigarette making machines are collected by endless conveyer 4, and passed down at 12 past detector 13, and fall down shoot 70 on to the top run of endless conveyer 44 which conveys the cigarettes to the left and after falling down at 45 they are conveyed to the right on endless conveyer 6 and discharged by conveyers 55 and 16 past detector 61 on to a packaging hopper 8. The conveyer roller 45 and curved plate 47 are supported on a carriage 46 which is influenced towards the left by a rope 49 and weight 51 so as to form a reservoir of cigarettes the capacity of which can be varied by the movement of carriage 46. This is effected by operation of driving rolls 53 and 52 which let out or take in a length of conveyer 44, the surplus being stored in storage 54. The rolls 52 and 53 are governed by the level of cigarettes which are detected by detectors 13 and 61 so that plate 47 moves automatically to accommodate the number of cigarettes available.
