[Also in Divisions F4 and H2] An electric socket on a domestic appliance such as a washing machine with a working surface 6, consists of a housing 1, carrying the socket 2, mounted on a plate 3 which fits into an aperture 4 in the working surface so that when not in use the plate 3 is flush with the surface 6. The socket is connected to the power supply by a cable 8 which is clamped at 10 leaving enough slack for the socket to be removed and placed on the working surface, or partially replaced in the aperture 4, when in use.
