994,169. Cigarettes; filter tips. SINTERED PRODUCTS Ltd., and J. W. LENNOX. Feb. 21, 1964 [Nov. 30, 1962], No. 45507/62. Heading A2C. A composite endpiece for a cigarette comprises a conventional non-metallic filter element 12 which abuts a porous metal plug or disc 13 which metal has comparatively good heat conductivity and high specific heat, and heat insulating material, e.g. paper or cork 14, encircling the composite endpiece. The plug 13 may consist of compressed aluminium fibre or powder, sintered metal, coiled corrugated aluminium or a number of thin parallel rods of aluminium, bronze, iron or mild steel. Silver fibre, nickel fibre or copper foil may also be used.
