Abstract
992,976. Transformers. LICENTIA-PATENT VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. March 27, 1962 [March 29, 1961], No. 11682/62. Heading HIT. A transformer or reactance winding comprises a cylindrical assembly of disc coils arranged coaxially, each disc coil being a spiral of coplanar turns and the coils being connected in series so that the direction of current flow around the winding is the same throughout, a number of turns at the input end of the winding being arranged in a coil sandwiched between two other coils, one of which said other coils is separated in sequence of turns from the end turns to obtain a high series capacitance but wound so that the turns progress in the same sense (i.e. inwards or outwards) as the end turns in the sandwiched coil to obtain a substantially uniform voltage difference between said one coil and the sandwiched coil. Fig. 1 shows a cross-section of one half of the winding and Fig. 2 shows the method of interconnection, 45 being a screening ring. The Specification describes eleven further embodiments in which inter-coil connections may be made between turns of the same radius and in which some of the coils may have minor portions not directly in electrical sequence with the major portions and these may be situated at the inner or outer end of the coil. An additional coil may be situated at the end of the assembly.
