Abstract

The surface active properties of a tertiary amine oxide, which has been applied to a surface before, during or after a protective finish, are modified or destroyed by heating the treated surface to a temperature above 100 DEG C. The treated surface may be of iron, wood, plastic, or glass. The protective finish may comprise tetrakis-hydroxymethyl-phosphonium chloride, stearamido-methyl-pyridinium chloride, cyclohexanone resin, trimethylolmelamine resin, vinyl acetate resin, an organopolysiloxane, or a fluorocarbon derivative. It may also contain titanium dioxide or china clay as pigment. It may be applied by brushing or casting.ALSO:The surface active properties of a tertiary amine oxide, which has been applied to a surface before, during or after a protective finish, are modified or destroyed by heating the treated surface to a temperature above 100 DEG C. The treated surface may be of textile material, paper, leather, or wood. The protective finish may comprise tetrakis-hydroxymethyl-phosphonium chloride, stearamido-methyl-pyridinium chloride, cyclohexanone resin, trimethylolmelamine resin, vinyl acetate resin, an organopolysiloxane, or a fluorocarbon derivative.
