Abstract
992,249. Transformers and inductors. U. L. WERTANEN. Aug. 23, 1961, No. 30439/61. Heading H1T. An inductor or transformer comprises a loop of two insulated coaxial conductors, the conductors being connected in series with each other and enclosing at least one additional inner conductor. The series-connected coaxial conductors and the additional conductors may form the primary and secondary (or vice versa) of a transformer. Fig. 2 shows a transformer using two loops, the innermost conductors 13 of the loops being connected in parallel and forming the primary of the transformer. The course of the secondary may be followed from the terminal lead 7, around the two outermost conductors 16 connected in series, then successively around the inner conductors 15 and 14 connected in series, to the terminal lead 10. The Specification also describes a transformer using four such loops. One of the terminals 7, 10 may be connected to one of the terminals of the innermost conductors 13, thereby converting the transformer to a two-terminal device. Cooling fluid may be passed through the innermost conductor. A single innermost conductor may be replaced by a group of conductors as shown in the section of Fig. 1d.
