Abstract
991,599. Printing processes. IMAGIC PROCESS Ltd. July 10, 1961 [July 18, 1960], No. 24998/60. Addition to 943,401. Heading B6C. The method claimed in the parent Specification is modified in that the condensed oil defining the image on the receiving surface is brought into contact with a copy surface to which at least a proportion of the oil is thereby transferred. In the apparatus of Fig. 1, an original 11 is passed around a translucent drum 1 housing an infra-red heater 3 and reflector 4, an endless band and roller arrangement 5 . . . 8 keeping the original pressed against the drum. During the following revolution of the drum a copy 12 is passed between it and the band. When the original is too long for the peripheral length of the drum, a duplicated heater, reflector and band with rollers arrangement 3<SP>1</SP>. . . 81 is provided through which the copy continuously passes whilst the original is passed through the first arrangement. In the apparatus of Fig. 2 a translucent belt 20 is employed to transfer the markings of the original 25, passing detween the belt and a rotating drum 23, to the copy 30 which is passed over the belt as it moves around a drum 21. An infra-red heater 26 and reflectors 27 heats both drums. The heater 26 may heat the drum 23 only, drum 21 being heated by a heater 31. In a modification of this apparatus the " copy " drum is much larger than the original drum, the band 20 and copy passing around almost the entire circumference of the larger drum. In yet a further embodiment the copy 43, Fig. 4, passes between a drum 45 and the band 20 whilst subjected to pressure from rotating brushes 46. Development of the latent image on the copy is as set out in the parent Specification. The process of the invention may also be carried out manually on a flat bed by the use of successive superimposed sheets.
