Abstract

991,555. Latches. N. E. KYRIACOU. March 18, 1963 [Dec. 19, 1961], No. 45493/61. Heading E2A. A device for attachment to a door comprises means for moving a catch on the door and independently operable electric switch means, so disposed in relation to the door catchmoving means that the moving means and the switch means can be simultaneously operated with one hand. As shown in which a catch 13 is withdrawable by means of a push button 12, the push button is carried by a handle 16 having thereon a brass wiper 17 which is engageable with two or more contacts 18 formed on an insulated ring 33 positioned in a door recess 34. The handle 16 is rotatable on a fixed sleeve 20 to positions indexed by spring loaded ball and socket means 28, 30, 31 for controlling one or more electric lamps. One of the contacts 18 is connected to one side of electric supply mains and the other points are connected through electric lamps to the other side of the mains, the wiring being passed through the body of the door. A similar device may be provided on the other side of the door and the devices wired in the manner of a two-way switch.
