991,248. Amphibious craft. P. R. V. YOUNGMAN. Aug. 2, 1962 [May 3, 1961], No. 15986/61. Heading B7A. An amphibious track-laying craft or ferry has a buoyant track comprising an endless band 1 carrying buoyant elements 13 which may be solid or be gas-filled envelopes. The band 1 passes round end sprockets, or drums 2A, 2B, and support drums 3 which may serve as floats, supported by a chassis 4 which may also be made to provide buoyancy. The drum 2B is rotated via transmission gear 9 by a power unit 8. The buoyant elements 13 support the craft above the water level. The invention may be applied to a ferry.
