Abstract

Esters are produced by reacting an alcohol with a carboxylic acid or anhydride in presence of at least 0.1 wt. per cent of a stannous salt of a carboxylic acid having up to 12 carbon atoms. Examples describe the production of diesters from C7-9 alcohol mixture or iso-octyl alcohol and phthalic anhydride.
