[Also in Division B5] A sound vibration protective jerkin of composite material comprises an outer facing layer consisting of an open structure material which in itself forms no barrier to sound vibrations, an intermediate layer consisting of foam material tending to damp such vibrations and an inner layer consisting of a firm material of low permeability to air and consequently to sound vibrations carried by that air. The sleeveless jerkin 1 secured by zip fasteners at the sides comprises a thick layer of foam material 5 between a porous facing 6, e.g. nylon, and a firm backing 4, e.g. canvas.
