Abstract

The invention comprises o -aminoalkylphenyl sulphides of the general formulae <FORM:0989915/C2/1> wherein R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms; R1 is an alkyl radical containing from 4 to 12 carbon atoms, and R and R1 together contain from 4 to 12 carbon atoms; R2 and R3 are the same or different and are each a hydrogen atom, a phenyl radical or an alkyl radical comprising 1 to 4 carbon atoms or R2 or R3 together complete a piperidine, pyrrolidine or morpholine ring and R4 is a hydrogen or an alkyl radical comprising 1 to 4 carbon atoms; X is an anion and n is an integer from 2 to 4. The novel compounds are made by reacting in the presence of a base an appropriate 2,4-substituted thiophenol with a hydrohalide of an o -monohaloalkylamine of the formula Z(CH2)n-N(R2)R3 wherein Z is a chlorine or bromine atom. The salts or quaternary compounds are formed by reacting the free bases with HX or an alkylating agent.
