Abstract

988,960. Valves. BAYHAM Ltd., and F. F. WILLIAMS. Nov. 7, 1963 [Jan. 9, 1963], No. 1046/63. Heading F2V. A flow-actuated valve comprises a valve member 11 biased into one position under conditions of no flow and arranged to move when there is a certain pressure differential across the valve member, and movable switch actuating means 5 adapted to be actuated by a movement of the valve member, the arrangement being such that after moving the switch actuating means further movement of the valve member is permitted without further movement of the switch actuating means. The means 5 is either a magnet or core of magnetic material to operate a magnetic switch 13 and moves relatively to the valve stem 4 after it has engaged a member 6. The switch may be operated with a flow of less than 1 gallon per minute to start a pump providing a flow of 100 gallons per minute.
