Abstract

988,574. Disc brakes. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. May 26, 1961 [May 28, 1960; June 18, 1960], No. 19185/61. Heading F2E. [Also in Division B7] A motor vehicle and a disc brake unit is provided with a brake disc 16 supported on a lateral projection of the web 17 of the wheel and a wheel hub 5 (Fig. 1) all formed as a single integral unit, the lateral projection of the web being arranged in the central region of the web between the hub and the part of the web receiving the rim of the wheel 18. In a further embodiment disclosed in Fig. 5 a vehicle wheel rim 24, wheel flange 29 and brake disc 28 are formed as a single casting. The wheel rim 24 may be provided with a detachable side plate 25 and the brake disc may be formed as shown or, alternatively, inturned in a radially-inwards direction. Fig. 6 shows a brake disc and hub wherein the hub is made of light metal and the brake disc 31 of suitable cast metal is secured during the casting operation to an annular flange 32 integral with the wheel hub 33. A wheel rim 34 is secured to a circular plate 35 which is affixed to the flange 32.
