Abstract
The invention comprises racemic and optically active compounds of the general formula <FORM:0987281/C2/1> (wherein Ph represents an unsubstituted phenyl group or a phenyl group substituted by one or more substituents selected from lower alkyl, hydroxyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkenyloxy, lower alkanoyloxy, nitro and trifluoromethyl groups and halogen atoms; Am represents a tertiary amino group, and n is 2, 3 or 4) and acid addition salts thereof, pharmaceutical preparations containing them, and their preparation by reacting a ketone of the formula <FORM:0987281/C2/2> with HAm or a salt thereof in the presence of formaldehyde or a reactive derivative thereof, optionally followed by resolution and/or acid addition salt formation. The term "lower" denotes a group containing up to seven carbon atoms. The compounds of the invention are stimulants, and may be administered enterally or parenterally in the form of pharmaceutical preparations (e.g. capsules, tablets, solutions, suspensions and emulsions) containing them, with or without other (unspecified) active ingredients, in admixture or conjunction with a carrier.
