985,840. Flexible tube pumps. TECHNICON INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION. Jan.10, 1963 [Jan. 25, 1962], No. 1125/63. Heading F1F. In a flexible tube pump for use in automatic analysis apparatus comprising a plurality of flexible tubes 12, Fig. 1, disposed in side-by-side relationship without touching on a resiliently supported platen 14 and a series of rollers 16 carried by sprocket chains 18 to progressively compress the tubes along their lengths, holding means 20 adjustably located by means of pins 24 and holes 26 at either end of the platen hold the tubes taut and separate the tubes into upper and lower layers thus permitting a larger number of tubes to be used. Each holding means comprises a block 22 having upper and lower grooves 28, 30, Fig. 2, in staggered relationship with the intervening parts 32 formed with projecting teeth 34 which engage collars 38 secured on the tubes to limit vertical movement of the tubes. The collars 38 by engagement with the outer ends of the blocks also serving to tauten the tubes. Specifications 774,711 and 817,070 are referred to.
