985, 330. Stroboscopes. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov.15, 1963 [Aug. 15, 1962], No. 31313/62. Heading G1K. A stroboscope for checking the tape speed of a tape recorder comprises a drive pulley 4 adapted to be rotated by engagement of a portion of its periphery with the tape, and a stroboscopic disc 15 secured to a driven pulley 9 and resilient spring means 11, 14 for urging the two pulleys into frictional driving engagement. A window 17 is provided in the casing 2 for viewing the stroboscopic disc. The disc may carry concentric bands of striations suitably proportioned to indicate different speeds.
