Abstract
985,311. Automatic speed control. BRENTFORD TRANSFORMERS Ltd., and MATHER & PLATT Ltd. March 27, 1961 [March 28, 1960], No. 10888/60. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] The rotor windings of an induction motor M are connected to a saturable transformer 1 having a control winding 2 supplied in accordance with the slip voltage from rectifier 3,the output voltage of the rectifier being opposed by a reference voltage from rectifier 4. A second control winding 6 of the transformer compensates for variations in the rotor current due to load changes. Secondary windings of the transformer energize a mercury arc inverter 10 through rectifier 9 so that transformer 11 feeds power back to the supply. The inverter 10 is associated with a grid transformer 12, negative bias for the grids being provided by rectifier 13 connected to transformer 17.
