985,112. Mixing fluids in conduits. J. C. H. PARIS. April 30, 1962 [May 3, 1961; Nov. 17, 1961], No. 16399/62. Heading B1C. [Also in Division F4] In a device for mixing two fluids, one of the fluids is supplied to a nozzle 1 and the other is supplied as indicated at f through a cylindrical envelope 6 and is split by a deflector assembly into two streams, one flowing round the nozzle and the other along the envelope 6. The device is particularly described as a burner head, oil fuel being supplied to the nozzle and air through the cylinder. A frusto-conical member 3a directs primary air around the nozzle 1 and frusto-conical members 3b, 4 and 5 direct secondary air towards the envelope to be subsequently deflected by a flange 6b into the fuel spray core a. The angle of the flange 6b with the cylinder may be slightly greater or slightly less than 90 degrees or may be omitted, Fig. 2 (not shown), in which case the cylinder 6 extends up to the spray cone a. A diaphragm may be provided to control the size of the aperture through which the spray cone passes. The intersection of the frusto-conical members 3a and 3b may be provided with a series of equally spaced holes 3d.
