Abstract

984,849. Printers' composing appliances. C. F. MOORE & SONS Ltd. Feb. 21, 1964 [Feb. 21, 1963], No. 7026/63. Heading B6W. Locking devices.-A device for locking type 15 in a printers' galley 10 having two opposed side walls 11 upstanding from a base 12 comprises in combination, a section of furniture 14 abutting against type in the galley and a keyoperated locking block 16 adapted to be slidably mounted on each of the side walls 11 to engage the face of the furniture remote from the type. Each locking block 16, Fig. 12, has a slot 17 to receive the side wall 11. A hole 19 extends at right angles to the slot and side wall through the block and retains a plunger 21 slidable therein. A vertical hole 22 with a threaded portion 23 receives a screw 24 provided with a head 25 eccentrically mounted thereon. When the screw is rotated with a key co-operating with a recess 26 in the head 25, the head 25 urges the plunger 21 against the side wall 11 into locking engagement therewith. The key may be of the type described in Specifications 698,280 and 797,984. Furniture may be provided to restrict the width of the galley with a locking block mounted on the rear wall 13 of the galley.
