984,418. Determining physical qualities. ELECTRONIC SWITCHGEAR (LONDON) Ltd. March 21, 1961 [March 21, 1960], No. 9930/60. Heading G1N. In an arrangement for determining the temperature-compensated value of the electrical conductivity of a liquid a pair of electrodes in a measuring cell 10 are connected in one arm of a bridge a b c d and the bridge output is connected to a bridge rebalancing servomotor 36 through a temperature compensating bridge 21, thermistor 25 of which is inserted in the liquid, and an amplifier 20, the position of the wiper on the resistor 15 indicating the desired compensated value. Potentiometers 27 and 29 provide for setting the temperature compensation according to the coefficient of the liquid being tested, and for automatically adjusting for changes in bridge sensitivity as the wiper at point b is moved from balance for compensation purposes. A range change switch is provided. The measurement of other variables compensated for other second variables, such as pressure, is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
