Abstract
983,947. Mercury switch contacts. BENDIX CORPORATION. July 31, 1963 [Aug. 1, 1962], No. 30434/63. Heading H2B. A mercury switch in which three electrodes 12, 14, 16 extend into the envelope 10 thereof and in which a globule of mercury 22 in continuous contact with the electrode 12 is arranged to also contact one of the electrodes 14, 16 according to the tilt of the envelope about the axis Y-Y, is provided with U-shaped contact members 18, 20 on the inner ends of the electrodes 14, 16 so that the globule 22 will remain in contact with the member 18 or 20, dependent upon the sense of tilt irrespective of the rotation of the envelope about the longitudinal axis X-X.
