Abstract

983,138. Ratchet clutches. HOOVER Ltd. May 4, 1961 [May 12, 1960], No. 16865/60. Heading F2C. A one-way clutch, comprises wedging rollers 20 arranged in openings 13 in a bearing ring 12 between driving and driven races 10, 11. The rollers 20 are, as shown, urged into light frictional engagement with the driving race 10 and a flat 17 on the driven race 11 by springs 21. The bearing race 12, which is rotatable with the driven race 11, is made of sintered or other porus metal impregnated with lubricant. In Figs. 4-6 (not shown), the spring 21 is omitted and the rollers are urged into light engagement with the driving race 10 by springs housed in recesses in the flats 17.
