Abstract
982,985. Gas scrubber. TILGHMAN'S Ltd., and R. T. RICHARDSON & SONS Ltd. May 25, 1962 [May 25, 1961], No. 18883/61. Heading B1R. Fumes, vapour and dust are removed from laden air from a plurality of sources by means of a partially water-filled trough duct 4 which passes adjacent to each laden air source, one side 5 of said trough being offset to provide a water-filled air trap 6 through which a movable off-take duct 8 passes to the interior of the trough where the laden air is directed into intimate contact with the water by means of a baffle 10 or known self-induced spray washer elements or scrolls, said trough being provided with means for transporting solid material collected in the ducting to a discharge point. The off-take duct 8 can be brought opposite any of a number of dust producing sources. The baffle 10 may be flexibly hinged at 11 and may have flexible end plates 12. The washed air is drawn along the trough duct by an exhaust fan. Settled solid material is carried to a shallow pit by a movable scraper and is conveyed from the pit to a disposal bin.
