Abstract

The apparatus comprises a flexible inflatable envelope 2 for receiving an article 1 (such as a bed) and an inflation unit 12 comprising blower means for inflating the envelope. A first air-conducting passage 30 leads form the inflation unit 12 to the envelope 2, and a second passage 31 leads from the envelope 2 to the inflation unit 12, whereby air may be recirculated between the envelope and the inflation unit. The inflation means includes heating means (18,fig.2) for heating the air supplied to envelope and may also include a fluid reservoir (19,fig.2) and means for introducing fluid into the air flow. The fluid may be a liquid which is vaporised as it is supplied to the air flow. A dehumidifier unit (50,fig.3) may be interposed between the envelope and the inflation unit or integrated into the inflation unit to allow articles inside the envelope to be dried.
