Large span roofs comprises cables 4, 4<SP>1</SP> arranged either in two layers, braced apart by struts 7. The cables may also run parallel with a double row of columns 15, 16 at each end of the span, with cables 19 between the columns. Over the cables a roofing 8 of a translucent plastics material is laid, and there may also be gutters 9.
