Abstract
981,369. Hydraulic apparatus. FORGES ET ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES DE JEUMONT. Jan. 14, 1964 [June 18, 1963], No. 1583/64. Addition to 844,300. Heading F1P [Also in Division H2] In an hydraulic control system for jackoperated switches as claimed in the parent Specification wherein two similar distributers G, H, Fig. 1, each comprising differential piston 52a, 52b are arranged to be actuated rapidly by exhaust of pressure effected by an associated control valve A, B each distributer G, H comprises a block mounted on the underside of a reservoir 60 and containing a bore in which is located the differential piston which controls fluid passages therein and the control valve associated with each distributer is mounted directly on the block. In operation pressure fluid from a pump and an accumulator (not shown) admitted past a needle valve 45 to a passage 46 seats a piston 49 of a pressure balancing valve D and traverses orifices f2, f3 in the differential piston 52a to gain access to both sides of a control valve piston 55a which is biased to its closed position by a spring 53a extending between it and a ball valve 54a. On depressing a button 57a the ball is unseated thus connecting the control valve to the exhaust reservoir 60 which allows the piston 52a to become unseated and pressure fluid to pass through passages 62, 63, 66 to jack lines 5a, 5b, 5c to effect the closing cycle of the circuit breaker. On completion of the closing cycle and assuming button 57a to be released and hence ball 54a to be seated, piston 52 is reseated by its spring, piston 49 is unseated by back pressure in passage in a branch passage 65 and the jacks are maintained under pressure through passages 46, 65, 63 and 66. During the closing cycle the pressure build-up in passage 65 is transmitted through a passage 68 to the underside of the piston 70 of a no-pressure valve S which when lifted allows a sleeve 71 to be lifted by a spring 72 to the position shown in Fig. 2 where at the end of the closing cycle the sleeve 71 cuts off passage 68 from a passage 80 leading to the space 56b of the opening valve B. Pressure in space 56b assists pressure admitted from passages 63; 66 through orifices f<SP>1</SP>2, f<SP>1</SP>3 in piston 52b to hold the latter in its closed position. To effect opening of the circuit breaker push button 57b is depressed to unseat ball 54b and connect space 56b to the exhaust reservoir 60 and allow piston 55b to lift against its spring 53b under the pressure of fluid admitted through orifices f<SP>1</SP>3, f<SP>1</SP>2. Space 84b thus connected to the exhaust reservoir and differential piston 52b becomes unseated to allow discharge of the jacks through passages 66, 83, 67. Passages 68, 80, 81 are also connected to the exhaust reservoir and the piston 70 is returned to its position shown in Fig. 1.
