Abstract

981,167. Flexible barges. DRACONE DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Jan. 14, 1964 [Jan. 18, 1963], No. 2219/63. Heading B7A. A barge for fluent cargo comprising a long flexible collapsible envelope is provided internally with inflatable means comprising at least one flexible tube extending substantially the full length of the barge, said means serving, when inflated, to co-operate with the envelope to define and keep open at least one pumping channel extending substantially the full length of the barge. The inflatable means also serves, when inflated, to keep the barge afloat whilst its cargo is being pumped out. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 the inflatable means comprises tubes 5 and 6, twisted together, and defining a pumping channel comprising spaces 14-17 as shown in the three sections A, B, C in Fig. 3.
