Abstract
979,767. Resistance networks. SERVOMEX CONTROLS Ltd., and C. R. EVANS. July 11, 1961 [July 13, 1960], No. 24477/60. Heading H3U. A resistance network comprises a potentiometer R connected across a voltage source E 1 and associated with a variable output circuit R L , Rpv<SP>1</SP>, Rpo<SP>1</SP> which ensures linearity between the potential difference at the output terminals 3, 4 and the setting of the potentiometer. It is shown in the Specification that compensation for the effect of load current may be achieved by making R L much greater than R on the shunt circuit Rpo<SP>1</SP>, Rpv<SP>1</SP>, and by arranging that the shunt circuit has a minimum value at the two extreme settings of the potentiometer and a maximum value at the mid-setting. To this end, the shunt circuit comprises a second potentiometer Rpv<SP>1</SP> in series with a variable resistor Rpo<SP>1</SP>. The two potentiometers R, Rpv<SP>1</SP> may be of the rotary type and may be ganged together.
