Abstract

Material to be applied as a coating is introduced into the electric arc of a plasma flame generator (see Division H5), and conveyed at supersonic velocity, and at temperatures of the order of 30,000 DEG F., to form a high density deposit on the article to be coated. The material may be "Pyrex" (Registered Trade Mark).ALSO:Material to be applied as a coating is introduced into the electric arc of a plasma flame generator (see Division H5), and conveyed by the flame at supersonic velocity, and at temperatures of the order of 30,000 DEG F., to form a high density deposit on the article to be coated. The material may be Al, Be, Cr, Mo, Ni, Th, W, Zn, stainless steel or "Stellite" (Registered Trade Mark), boron carbide, chromium boride, niobium carbide, tantalum carbide, titanium carbide, tungsten carbide, zirconium boride, zirconium carbide.
