Abstract
An 18, 20-lactone of a D 4-3-oxo-11a -acyloxy-20-hydroxy-pregnene -18- acid is obtained by heating an 18, 20-lactone of a 2-bromo -3- oxo-11a -acyloxy -20- hydroxy -5a - pregnane -18- acid with a lithium halide in a dialkyl-formamide, if desired in the presence of lithium carbonate, e.g. the reaction may be effected with lithium chloride above 100 DEG C.
