Abstract

976,426. Floating foundry ladles. STEWARTS & LLOYDS Ltd. Nov. 19, 1963 [Feb. 14, 1963], No. 6037/63. Heading F4B. Apparatus for heating ladles comprises a flanged cup-shaped vessel 2 open at its upper end disposed in and spaced from the ladle 1 and having one or more burners 4 disposed in nozzles 5 in the vessel to discharge products of combustion into the space between the vessel and the ladle, the flange 14 overlying but being spaced from the ladle peripheral rim 15. The vessel and its nozzles) are lined with refractory 3 and each burner 4 is supplied with air from a fan 6 and has an igniter 12. The vessel may have a double wall in which the combustion air is heated.
