Apparatus for skin-packaging articles by drawing a heated film on to them by vacuum and sealing the film to a thermoplastic coated but porous board on which the article C is placed, comprises a vertically movable frame 40 in which the film 28 is placed, the frame descending with the heated film towards the board 34 while a vacuum pump 39 is in operation. As the film approaches the board the pressure between them drops. The heater 19 is mounted adjacent the upper position of the frame.
