Abstract

974,564. Bottle closures. METAL CLOSURES Ltd. Jan. 9, 1963 [Jan. 22, 1962], No. 2193/62. Heading B8T. A metal screw cap for a bottle has a top and a depending two-part skirt in which the two parts 5, 3 are connected across a peripheral slit line by bridges 8, 81, 9, and the lower part 3 forms a locking ring which engages beneath a rib on the bottle and has a transverse weakening line 11, between one of the bridges (9), which is substantially stronger than any of the bridges 8, and a weak bridge 8<SP>1</SP>. The bridges 8<SP>1</SP> and 9 are closer together than the bridges 8 to give more support near the weakening line when the locking ring is being rolled under the rib. Any tampering with the cap once in position will result in the breaking of at least the bridge 8<SP>1</SP>, and when the cap is unscrewed the bridges 8 will also break. At the same time the locking ring opens along the line 11 and is removed from the bottle still attached to the cap by the bridge 9. Specification 369,494 is referred to.
