Abstract

972,452. Brush-holders for dynamo-electric machines. C.A.V. Ltd. April 6, 1961 [April 8, 1960]; No. 12639/60. Heading H2A. Each of a plurality of brush housings 6 formed from aluminium or other high thermally conductive material is in communication, with an aluminium end plate 7, which acts as a heat sink, through the intermediary of a thin insulating surface 9. The insulating surface 9 may be formed by anodizing the appropriate surface of the housings 6 or the end plate 7 or it may comprise a thin sheet of mica. The machine shown is a vehicle starter motor.
