Abstract

972,331. Injection moulding machines. TURNER MACHINERY Ltd. July 27, 1962 [Aug. 23, 1961], No. 30348/61. Heading B5A. In an injection moulding machine screw-threaded mouldings 14 are removed from mould parts 13 by a device comprising a plurality of rotatable chucks 36 mounted on a carriage 16 which can be reciprocated longitudinally at the ejection station A of the machine. As shown, the chucks 36 have pins 39 engaging with flutings in moulded caps 14, the chucks 36 being rotatable in common through toothed gearing 33 by means of a fluidoperated rack 42 (Fig. 4, not shown). The chucks 36 are removably screwed into holders 32 so that the number in use can be varied. Ejector rods 47 passing through hollow chuck holders 32 are screwed into a plate 46 mounted on spring- biased studs 49. When the carriage 16 is moved to the right in Fig. 1, the studs 49 contact an adjustable abutment 50 and cause the ejector rods to project through the corresponding chucks. The carriage 16 is reciprocated on rods 20, 21 by a fluid-operated ram 29 and cylinder 30. The invention is applied to the machine described in Specificafication 908,298, wherein a plurality of mould cores carried by a rotatable carrier 10 co-operate in turn with a cavity mould 6. Operation of the machine including opening and closing of the press, injection by an injector 7, and unscrewing and ejection of the moulded caps is controlled by hydraulic means and timing gear.
