Abstract

972,137. Building blocks. F. D. BEANLAND. Dec. 27, 1962 [Sept. 26, 1961], No. 34462/61. Heading E1B. A concrete building block having a central vertical aperture 2 and end grooves 5 is also provided at its ends with a projection 8 and a corresponding groove 6 of V-section as shown, or of semi-circular cross-section. Corresponding tongues and grooves provided with grouting channels 10, 15 are provided on the top and bottom bearing surfaces and further mating formations 16, 17 may also be provided. The surface of the block which is to be the outer surface of a wall is bevelled at its edge, either flat or arcuately, as shown at 13. A groove 11 is provided to receive a tie when the blocks are used in a cavity wall.
