972,045. Bearings. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. July 1, 1963 [July 4, 1962], No. 26073/63. Heading F2A. A device for guiding and supporting a rotary shaft comprises four rectangular-shaped members connected together to form a square, or a polygon, which is positioned so that its apex is lowermost. Two of the members lie in one plane and two of the members lie in a spacedapart parallel plane. The members may be of metallic or plastics material. In an embodiment, members 1, 1<SP>1</SP> support a shaft 2 and members 1<SP>11</SP>, 1<SP>111</SP> retain the shaft in position. The members may be attached by screws 4 to a bar 3 which is a plate reinforced by struts 5 carried by a base 6.
