[Also in Divisions C3 and G2] A layer of a polyolefin such as polyethylene is extruded on to a paper surface and then treated by electron bombardment so that the water contact angle (as defined in the Specification) is between 75 and 40 degrees. The paper may be extrusion coated on one or both sides and one of the polyethylene layers may contain titanium dioxide pigment, which layer is treated by electron bombardment according to the invention.
