Abstract

970,600. Automatic exchange systems. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. April 5, 1963 [April 11, 1962], No. 13689/63. Addition to 964,247. Drawings to Specification. Heading H4K. [Also in Division H1] A common control circuit of a type similar to that described in the parent Specification and driven by timing pulses produces a sequence of coded signals to bring about the operation of the required select and hold magnets in a plurality of cross-bar switches. The completion of a connection through any switch (see Division H1) requires the operation of an additional contact set in the same column as the contact set to be operated but in a different row, so that two select magnets and one hold magnet are involved. These additional contact sets assist in discriminating between the plurality of contact sets operable at any one cross-point and are distributed diagonally across the array of cross-points, one in each column.
