Abstract
970,489. Centrifuging coal. DON VALLEY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. April 18, 1963 [March 22, 1962], No. 10944/62. Heading B1D. Small coal (2 inches down) is fed to wire screen 1, from a washing plant, and discharged into the horizontal open-ended basket centrifuge 5. The coal is discharged to the feed shoot 8 of the second horizontal centrifuge with about 9% water content, while the separated effluent is collected in chamber 7. Concentrated fines (0À5 mm. down) from a flotation separator 10 are fed either to the discharge shoot 6 or the feed shoot 8 and a solid product is obtained of 10% water content after centrifuging. The separated effluent in chamber 13 may be recycled with that from chamber 7 to the flotation unit 10.
