Abstract

968,130. Ammunition projectiles. HOTCHKISS-BRANDT. May 30, 1962 [July 3, 1961], No. 20785/62. Heading F3A. Mortar bomb or rocket propelled missile P is launched by means of a propellent charge L housed in a support S, which support is introduced into a launching tube T through the muzzle ahead of the missile P. The support S comprises a perforated tube 1 secured in a base 2 which houses a firing-pin 3 for actuation by a percussion member a to fire the cartridge containing charge L. At its forward end tube 1 is screwed to a body 6 which is itself screwed on to a tube 8 surrounding an obturating and igniting device b for the self-propulsion means of the missile. Housed in the body 6 is a propellent charge 11 in communication with nozzles 12. On firing of charge L, the gases produced escape through the perforations 4 to force the missile P out of the tube T and by passage through openings 9 ignite the selfpropulsion means. The charge 11 is also ignited by the gases entering nozzles 12 and charge 11 then separates the support from the missile. Support S is provided with guide means 13, 14 at its forward and rear ends respectively, each guide means being provided with surfaces 15, Fig. 3, to bear against the bore of the launcher.
