Abstract

967,976. Stoppers &c. E. R. HOLLOWAY Ltd. June 27, 1963 [July 18, 1962], No. 27624/62. Heading B8T. A closure cap for a container holding a pourable powder comprises a base member and a cover member, the base member having two cylindrical portions 2 and 4 of different external diameters joined by a shoulder 5-7 with an opening 3 formed in the portion 2, and the cover having a screw-threaded skirt 14 which screws on to the portion 4, an opening 12 in a side wall 9 and a second shoulder 16 between the wall and a sloping ring 13 joined to the skirt. The cover is so arranged that when it is tightly screwed up its shoulder 16 is forced tightly on to the shoulder 7 of the base member and the openings are then out of register. In another position the openings correspond and the powder may be poured out using a depression 20, formed in the ring 13, as a pouring spout. The base may be open ended and may be formed by blow moulding as an integral part of a plastics bottle. The cover may have an internal ring 11 which fits tightly within the open end of the base.
