967,946. Stands for vessels. N. A. VON BROMSSEN. June 5, 1963 [June 21, 1962], No. 22311/63. Heading A4A. A stand or carrier for a cooking or table vessel comprises a lazy tongs of bars 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and an inverted U-clamp 6, 6<SP>1</SP> of spring steel secured at each end of the lazy tongs to press the free ends of the bars away from each other and contract the base lengthwise so that the clamps grip the side of the vessel. The free ends of the bars have angularly projecting flanges non-rotatably engaged by the ends of the clamps which have a roughened resilient coating 7, 7<SP>1</SP> of heat resistant plastics and are inclined for part or all of their length to form carrying handles. In modifications the base consists of only two crossed mutually pivoted bars or the free ends of the clamps are rotatable relatively to the bars to avoid tension and additional springs are provided to assist closing movement.
