Abstract
967,676. Non-linear impedance networks; semi-conductor circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., and J. EVANS-PUGH. Nov. 23, 1962 [Nov. 24, 1961], No. 42209/61. Headings H3T and H3U. A variable-impedance circuit comprises two pairs of terminals connected by a transformer 7 and by an element 9 having a non-linear voltagecurrent characteristic, e.g. a semi-conductor diode. The impedance of the diode 9 is controlled by the transistor 11. Under conditions of maximum attenuation some current is still passed by the diode because of its inherent capacitance. To reduce the unwanted signal, the coupling of the transformer 7 and the value of capacitance 8 are such that the signal transferred by the transformer is equal in amplitude and opposite in phase to the signal transferred by the diode. In a modified circuit, the diode is connected between terminal 1 and the lower terminal of the secondary winding 10.
